The death at the Kemp Nursing Home, Grimsby, on Saturday of Jacob Moyer Wismer, marks the loss of one of the community's oldest citizens. Mr. Wismer had celebrated his 93rd birthday last Christmas at the family home.
Born in South Cayuga in 1860, he had lived for a year at Jordan and went to Campden in 1887. He operated a blacksmith shop for several years before purchasing a farm just outside the village where he lived until his retirement. For the past three years he has lived at Grimsby. For many years he worked for Clinton Township and was road superintendent for Lincoln County. He was a staunch member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church where he was the choir leader and Sunday school superintendent, also the teacher of the Crown Bible School.
His wife, the former Frances High, predeceased him in 1935 and his only son died in 1923. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Curtis Culp (Rhea), Campden and Mrs. Harold Fry (Stella), Winnipeg; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The late Mr. Wismer rested at the Tallman Funeral Home until today when service was held at 2 o'clock, and interment took place in Vineland Mennonite Cemetery.
