- (Research):LOWVILLE- Beatrice Moser, 93, formerly of Brookside Circle, died Sunday evening, December 13, 2009, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility where she had resided for three years.
Born on March 14, 1916, the daughter of Jacob N. and Lena Martin Widrick, she was educated at the Belfort Country School thru eighth grade and received her GED in 1963. She later studied the nurses' aide course at Lewis County BOCES receiving her certificate in 1976.
Beatrice was married to Ernest J. Moser on July 8, 1936 at the Amish Conservative Mennonite Church in Croghan with Rev. Christian Nafziger officiating. Mr. Moser died on June 7, 1989 in Sarasota, Florida. She was employed by the Climax Manufacturing Company in Castorland, New York, retiring in the 1980's. For a time, she also worked part-time as a nurses' aide.
She was a talented lady who loved to entertain and help others, keep lovely flower gardens, play games, read, do crafts, sew, and crochet.
Beatrice was a member of the Pine Grove Mennonite Church. She also was a member of the Beaver River Senior Citizens and both her and her husband have been members of Beaver Camp Association since September 1977
Beatrice is survived by a daughter and her husband, Elsie and Warren Nafziger, Martinsburg and a son, E. Joseph Moser Jr. and wife, Rosanna of Sarasota, FL. She is survived by two brothers Harold, Ontario, Canada; and Earle, Adams Center. She also has three sisters and their husbands, Irene and Benjamin Yousey, Gladys and Floyd Moshier, and Lauretta and Aaron A. Widrick, all of Lowville. She also has two brothers in law, Michael Moser and Simon and Diane Gingerich, all of Castorland.
Also surviving are six grandchildren: Warren Alan Nafziger and Gregory Nafziger of Martinsburg; Valerie (Greg) Persons, Nassau; Darrin Nafziger, Troy; Vaughn Moser, Wellston MI and Julianne (Jerry) Rice of Oneida Kentucky. The great grandchildren are Bailey, Anna, Christian Nafziger; Jakob, Megan, and Erin Persons; Jalisa, Jarrod, and Jalen Rice; Aaron and Eric Moser. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins surviving.
Beatrice is predeceased by four brothers; Elmer, Ezra, Bernard, and Hilary; and five sisters, Ella Lyndaker, Mary Moser, Barbara Moser, Kathryn Lyndaker, and Lena Gingerich.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 17th, at the Croghan Mennonite Church, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, December 18th, at the Croghan Mennonite Church, Croghan, New York. Burial will take place in the spring. Arrangements are with the Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan. Online condolences may be made at www.adirondackfh.com.
