A. Wideman Dead
_______
Albert Wideman, one of the dis-
drict's best-known residents, and last
year Reeve of Markham Village as
well as a member of its Council for
many years, died Sunday after a
long illness, in his sixty-sixth year.
A native of Markham, he had lived
there all his life, latterly residing
in a residence he erected on the
old farm where his forebearers settled.
He spent his early days on the farm
and later along with his brother
founded the hardware and Jewellry
business.
Elected to Markham Village
Council some fifteen years ago, he
served as reeve from 1932-1937
when failing health forced him to
resign.
A member of the United Church
he took a deep interest in its work,
and for some years was an elder.
He is survived by his widow, the for-
mer Mary Ada Meyer, one brother,
Harvey, two daughters, Florence of
Toronto and Mrs. R. Cowie of Brock-
ville, two sons Norman of Hanover
and Russell at home.
