- (Research):Gospel Herald - Volume XL, Number 29 - October 14, 1947, page 622 - 623 Martin.-Kate, widow [should read daughter] of the late Mr. And Mrs. Martin S. Bauman, was born near Waterloo, Ont., May 1, 1901; died July 25, 1947; aged 46 y. 2 m. 25 d. On Feb. 7, 1922 she was united in marriage to David B. Martin, who survives. Also surviving are 2 children (Lorne and Inez, both at home), her stepmother, 4 brothers (Jeremiah, Henry, Owen, and Harvey), and 4 sisters (Ellen-Mrs. Abraham Martin, Susanna-Mrs. Jesse Shantz, Almeda-Mrs. Paul Martin, and Alice-Mrs. Ivan Martin). She was a member of the Floradale, Ont., Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held July 28, at the church, in charge of Ruben Dettwiler and Oliver D. Snider. Burial was made in the North Woolwich Cemetery.
NOTE: The above obituary has a number of errors. The obituary is that of Mary Ann Martin (not Kate), who was the DAUGHTER of Mr. and Mrs. Martin S. Bauman.
As noted in the obituary, Mary Ann was buried in the North Woolwich Old Order Mennonite cemetery - but only temporarily. Her grave was moved later in the same year to the new Floradale Mennonite Cemetery a short distance away.
