Obituary:
- Mr. Clarence Venema of Cass City, died Monday, March 2, 1992, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, after a lengthy illness.
He was born January 29, 1895, in Koudum, Netherlands, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fekke and Tjitske DeJong Venema.
He was united in marriage to Miss Edith DeJong May 30, 1918 in Friesland, Netherlands coming to Grand Rapids, MI in 1925 and to a farm in Cass City in 1970 from Kalamazoo. Mrs. Venema died June 7, 1976.
Mr. Venema served with the Dutch Army during WW I and attended the Hillside Brethern Church.
He is survived by three sons, Mr. Maynard Venema of Lansing, Mr. Fredrick Venema of Saginaw and Mr. Peter Venema of Cass City; five daughters, Mrs. George (Genevieve) Simington of Belmont, Mrs. William (Sylvia) Heilborn of Owosso, Mrs. Clare (Jeanette) Vernon of Lakeland, Fla, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Smith of Cass City and Mrs. Gertrude Hendrick of Essexville; thirty five grandchildren, eighty five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; four brothers, Mr. Maynard Venema of Deford, Henry, Ralph and Gerrit, the Netherlands and two sisters, Mary and Sylvia, also the Netherlands. Three grandsons and one daughter Margaret preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Venema will be conducted Thursday at 1pm from Littles Funeral Home, Cass City with Reverend William Severance of Fairfield Bethel Assembly of Saginaw, officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
