Obituary:
- CRESSMAN, Elaine Barabara (Gingerich)
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at her residence at Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Born 89 years ago in Wilmot Township, a daughter of the late Peter Gingerich and former Barbara Gascho.
Cherished and loving mother of Greg Brennan and wife Glenice, Judy and husband Mike Miller, Karen and husband Craig Cressman Anderson, Kim Cressman and husband Phil Mackey and Wendy and husband Don Cressman Zehr. Devoted grandmother of Ryan (Katey), Brandon (Angeline), Tyler (Korri), Chelsea (Mike), Zachary (Olivia), Joshua (Emily), Finn, Tess (Jake), and Michaela, proud great grandmother of 6 great-grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her brother Richard Gingerich and sister-in-law Jean Gingerich as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased and reunited with her beloved husband Leonard Cressman, son Shawn Brennan, granddaughter Amy Brennan, brothers; Ken, Ray, Willard, sisters; Leona, Ruby and Miriam as well as by her many in-laws. She is also fondly remembered by the Gingerich, Cressman and Steinmann families.
Elaine spent much of her time quilting and tending to her gardens. She loved to sing in various choirs and with her beloved family. She and Leonard enjoyed square dancing, international travel and met many longtime friends along the way. Elaine was a member of Nith Valley Mennonite Church since 1974 when she married Leonard. Elaine was a fabulous homemaker, baking and cooking delicious meals for all. Above all things in life, her family was her pride and joy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 4 – 6 p.m. A Celebration of life service will be held at Nith Valley Mennonite Church, 1355 Bean Rd, New Hamburg, on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Greg Yantzi to officiate. A private interment to take place at Nith Valley Mennonite Church Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations would be accepted to Nith Valley Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated.
