When eleven years of age he moved with his father to Seward Co., Neb. On May 21, 1895, he was united in marriage to Phebe Stauffer. To this union were born 8 sons and 7 daughters. Two sons and 1 daughter preceded him in death. In 1910 he moved, with his family to Dodds, Alta., where he has resided since. He was suddenly stricken with paralysis while at a sale. For four days he suffered much. Being only semi-conscious, his words were few during his brief illness. He left with us the testimony that he was ready to go. He leaves his loving companion, 6 sons (Dan, Joe, Louis, Ervin, Harold and Clarence), 6 daughters (Mrs. Joe Burkholder, Mrs. John Zook, Mrs. Dan Swartzendruber, Barbara, Ada, and Katie), 3 sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 17 grandchildren, and 1 brother and sister who reside in Shickley, Neb., and a host of relatives and friends. He united with the Mennonite Church in his youth and remained faithful until death.
