Phyllis Irene Good of Didsbury passed away peacefully on June
4, 2012 at the age of 94 years. Phyllis was born in Pontllanfraith,
Wales on December 19, 1917. She moved with her family to
Carstairs from Wales at the age of 9. All her life she
remembered how rough the sea trip was and could not
understand why anyone would want to intentionally take a
cruise. Phyllis was a faithful member of the West Zion Mennonite
Church all her life. Two of her greatest joys were music and
babies. Whether singing at programs in the one-room
schoolhouse, duets at weddings and funerals or singing at home,
this made Phyllis her happiest. She enjoyed looking after
newborn babies and was proud of the fact that she was a foster
parent for over 30 newborns both in Alberta and Ontario. As a
grandmother, she was young at heart and was always interested
in the grandchildren's activities. Her last years were spent at the
Aspen Ridge Lodge where her sense of humour was enjoyed by
staff. Phyllis is survived by her son Edwin (Grace) of
Edmonton; her daughter Gloria (Edward) Buschert of Carstairs;
five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Glen
(Sharon) James of Carstairs and sister Audrey James of Calgary;
as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her parents, her loving husband Ward of 57 years, brother Alf
James and sister Margaret Good. We would like to thank the
Aspen Ridge Lodge Staff for their excellent care of our mother.
Funeral services were held on Thursday June 7, 2012 at the
West Zion Mennonite Church with Pastor Trevor Kiriaka
officiating. Interment was held at the West Zion Mennonite
Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made directly to the
Mennonite Central Committee or the Alberta Heart and Stroke
Foundation. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with
arrangements. 403-507-8610
