- (Research):BERNICE WISMER
In loving memory of Bernice Wismer, April 29, 1918 to October 8, 2000, a resident of Silver Water, died at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, St. Joseph's Site on Sunday, October 8, 2000 at the age of 82 years. She was born at Meldrum Bay, daughter of the late Francis and Christina (Steele) Cockwill. Bernice married Orland Wismer on June 4, 1941, and lived at Meldrum Bay until 1946, when they moved to the home farm.
She was active in the community, a member of St. Andrew's United Church, taught Sunday School, a member of the UCW, a life member of the Women's Institute, past member of of the Horticultural Society, and in early years was a 4H Club leader. She had a number of hobbies including reading, playing solitaire, crosswords, and in particular jigsaw puzzles, which often covered the dining table. Bernice will be sadly missed by her family and the community.
Dearly loved wife of Orland Wismer. Dear and loving mother and mother-in-law of Lois Amy of Winnipeg, Eric and Judy Wismer of Elliot Lake; Doug and Jane Wismer of Silver Water; Lorna Cambria and friend Ray of Brampton; Mavis and Terry Noble of Sault Ste. Marie. Proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Dear sister of Ruth Bowring of New Liskeard. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one grandchild, two brother and two sisters.
The funeral service was conducted at the St. Andrew's United Church, Silver Water on Thursday, October 12, 2000 with Pastor Erwin Thompson officiating. Interment in Silver Lake Cemetery.
