- (Research):COPENHAGEN - Joseph A. Kennell, 66, Route 12, died Monday morning at his home.
Mr. Kennell worked two years for J.P. Lewis Co., Beaver Falls, and then owned and operated a dairy farm in Carthage from 1959 to 1964 before moving to his farm in Copenhagen in 1965.
Born June 25,1937,in Croghan, son of Jonas and Miriam Farney Kennell,he attended school in Beaver Falls.
He married Norma L.Roggie on June 6,1957,at the Conservative Mennonite Church in Croghan with the Rev. Richard Zehr officiating.
He was an active member of the Naumburg Mennonite Church and enjoyed music and visiting with people.
Surviving besides his wife Norma are three sons and their wives, Walter and Doris and Paul and Jamie, all of Copenhagen, and Larry and Shirley of Chouteau, Okla., two daughters and their husbands,Juanita and Keith Gerow, of Glenfield and Marlene and Kendall Virkler, of Lowville; two sisters and their husbands, Rebecca and Alex Kalono of Utica, and Dorothy and Mark Debeve,of Ohio; two brothers and their wives, Richard and Phyllis, LaFargeville, and Daniel and Louise, of Keizer, Oregon., 17 Grandchildren and a Great-Grandson.
Three sisters, Mary Carol Iles, Anita Peachey and Anna Mae Leiberger, and a brother, David, who died before him.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Naumburg Mennonite Church with Rev.s Julius Moser, Titus Mast, Myron Roggie and Elmer Moser officiating.He will be laid to rest in Naumburg Mennonite Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 11am to 2pm and 7pm to 9pm Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are with Virkler-Percoski Funeral Home, Lowville.
