Obituary:
- Leonard Alexander Mniece was born on May 13, 1882, (per his birth record) in Stanwood Village, Mecosta County, Michigan, the son of Phoebe and Alexander who used the surname Ulrice on the birth certificate. His brother was George and his sister was Pearl. Leonard married Lulu Esmee Good in 1910, in Goshen, Indiana. Leonard used the name Mniece on the marriage certificate. They had four children during their marriage. He received a Master's degree from what is now named Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. He began post-graduate study at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He had a remarkable career. He became a superintendent, resigned without notice due to political pressures, it was said by his children, and then became a salesman of educational materials including maps and stereoscopes. He was a board member of several organizations (including the Methodist Church). He unexpectedly died on May 12, 1955, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 68, and was buried in Lawton, Michigan.
