Obituary:
- Died Saturday, June 17, 2023 in her 94th year. Safe in the loving arms of Jesus, her Lord and Saviour and reunited with the love of her life. Beloved wife and life-long bride of the late John W. Brubacher (1998). Loving mother and grandmother of: Marilyn Coxon (Stephen Coxon, Kaitlyn & Daniel Rowley). Paul Brubacher (Phoenix & Alasdair Hutchinson, Amy Brubacher). Susan & Michael Hanley (Jason & Melissa Hanley, Brian Hanley). Joanne & Michael McCulley (Michelle & Lupe Reyna, Alicia & Lawrence Gill, Courtney & Kenny Robison, Duncan & Monique Brotzman, Nicole & Michael Hernandez, Patrick & Nguyen McCulley). Kathryn Brubacher (Marshall Hett, Jocelyn Hett & Chris Frystak). James (Jim) & Nancy Brubacher (Ryan Brubacher, Jennifer Brubacher, Kenneth Nicoll, Kayla Nicoll) David (Dave) Brubacher (David & Emily Brubacher, Jonathon Brubacher & Jessica Ropotyn). Cherished great grandma of Elise, Claire, Joseph, Christian Reyna, Isabelle Brubacher, Eliza Brubacher, Chloe McCulley. Loved sister of Richard & Patricia Geiger, Bernice Geiger, Glen Brubacher. Loved cousin of Sharon Hicknell, Virginia Letkemann, and many close cousins in her extended Witmer, Hallman and Geiger families. Predeceased by her parents, Herman & Flossie Geiger, her brother, Edward, her in-laws, Stanley & Bernice Brubacher, Cecil & Margaret Ashley, Elizabeth Brubacher, Elaine Brubacher. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews Cheryl, Carin & Dan, Carol & Alex, Lisa, Patrick & Angela, Valerie & Bob, Warren. Also remembered by friends Brigitte, Laurie, Jim, Bill, Linda, Renate, Donna, Marty, Evelyn, Mary Ellen and the many friends whose lives have been deeply touched by Lorraine's selfless giving along with the free gift of her beautiful smile. Lorraine spent many years caring for her large family and during that time often provided room and board for up to 5 university students each semester. Once all her children were in school, Lorraine began her 20 year career at the University of Waterloo Co Op Residence kitchen where she helped prepare lunch and dinner daily for 175 students. She was a frequent winter Texan, flying to south Texas where she spent warm winters with her daughter's family and treasured friends, especially Betty Martin. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit Nashville, Mexico, Jamaica, Alaska and Hawaii. She and John camped across Canada allowing her to dip her toes into the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan from the beginning. She listened to the game the last night of her life and smiled broadly when her Blue Jays won. Lorraine walked her Christian faith and attended Generations Community Church in Lisbon, Ontario. Lorraine's family wish to thank everyone at Trinity Village Care Centre for their exceptional, loving care these past 7 months. We can never thank you enough. God bless you. Lorraine's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 - 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A service to celebrate her life will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel followed by a reception. Those unable to attend may join the service via henrywalser.com/live-streaming. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or The House of Friendship would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
