- (Research):Sylvia Joy Rodson
Sylvia Joy Lynn Dettweiler Rodson Sylvia Joy Lynn Dettweiler Rodson, 49, of Standish, Maine, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 11, 2011.
She was born on August 10, 1961, at Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, North Carolina, to Lois C. and Wilbur F. Dettweiler of Waynesboro, Virginia. After graduating from Waynesboro High School she Joined the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent in 14 years.
In 1986, she married Oscar Rodson. They are blessed with two sons, Christopher Adam Rodson and Stephen Paul Rodson, all of Standish, Maine.
She was a loving wife and mother, great cook, and terrific sister and aunt. She also was a pilot, coached little league soccer, cycled, loved the outdoors and attained her Masters in Social Work and worked as a Children's Social Worker Always given her utmost energy and dedication since she was Very passionate to the betterment of humanity.
She was preceded in death by sister, Melody Elisabeth Dettweiler.
In addition to her husband and sons, left to cherish her memory are five sisters, Donna N. Marshall and her husband, Richard W., of Waynesboro, Sharon M. Yoder and her husband, H. Gilbert, of Union Grove, Alabama, Esther Y. Maher and husband, William J., of Corbin, Kentucky, Susan L. Wilhide and her husband, D. Brent, of Madison, Alabama, and Crystal D. Piper and her husband, Daniel J., of Vinton, Virginia; two brothers, Nathaniel W. Dettweiler and his wife, Kimberly W., of Union Grove, Alabama, and Timothy H. Dettweiler and his wife, Drew G., of Lynchburg, Virginia; eleven nieces, eight nephews and two great-nephews; special friends, each sharing more than 30 years with her, Cindy Boardman, Stella DiAnn and Cindy Oakley.
A memorial service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 South Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, Virginia, by Dr. Eric S. Childers and the Reverend Mary C. Boyne.
