- Harvey was born on a farm near Poe, Allen County, Indiana. He worked as a farm hand, Ford mechanic, and was well known locally as a house painter. Harvey and Veva were in the restaurant business for several years and he also owned the Sinclair gas station on the corner of Main and Church Streets. During the time he was in the restaurant business he also was the US Mail carrier for the Caledonia Post Office. The mail was both pa rcel post and first class, which he transported to and from the post office and the railroad. They both worked in defence factories during WWI I. He later worked for and retired from the Kent County Road Commission. T hey did some travelling, including trips to Florida, and Hawaii. He loved working in the lawn and garden and had a nice rose bed.

SHOOK - Harvey K. Shook, aged 85, formerly of 600 Main St., Caledonia, pas sed away Thursday morning in Grand Valley Nursing Center Surviving are h is wife, Veva; three sons, Merle, Jay and Ernest all of Caledonia; 12 gran dchildren and several. great grandchildren. Mr. Shook reposes at the Ja ck R. Jonkhoff Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 2:3 0, Rev. Lloyd VanLente officiating. Interment Holy Corners Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Friday 7 to 9.
