- (Research):Gospel Herald - Volume XIV, Number 40 - January 5, 1922 - page 783 Shantz. - Sarah Shantz was born in Wilmot Twp., Ontario, June 3, 1853; died at her home in Breslau, Ont., Dec. 20, 1921; aged 68 y. 6 m. 17 d. On Feb. 28, 1875, she was united in marriage to Isaac C. Shantz. To this union were born eight children, four (Sarah, Herman, Viney, and Laura) preceding her in death and four (Edwin, Luanna, Mary and Edith), with her husband and ten grandchildren, are left to mourn her departure. Sister Shantz united with the Mennonite Church in her girlhood days and remained a consistent member until death claimed her. The last few weeks of her life were spent in intense suffering, but through it all her continual desire was to bear it faithfully and uncomplainingly until she could go home. The funeral services were held at the Breslau Mennonite Church* on Dec. 23, 1921, and were conducted by Brethren Jonas Snider and U. K. Weber.
*Note - At the time of Sarah's passing, Breslau Mennonite Church would have been known as Cressman Mennonite Church. It was renamed Breslau Mennonite Church many years later.
