Obituary
Last week we made the announcement that Miss Meryl Wismer , only daughter of Mr. and Mrs J. D. Wismer, of Gordon, had been taken to Owen Sound hospital, where an operation was to be performed for appendicitis. A wire was received on Monday that she had succumbed to the effects of the operation on Saturday. We understand the remains will arrive on the Midland today.
When it was found that an operation would be necessary she was at once removed to Owen Sound. We understand the operation was successful, but other symptoms developed which ended in her death.
Deceased was an exceptionally bright child, thirteen years of age, and for some time past had been attending high school in Gore Bay. She was a general favourite with all, an d her death is a great shock to all who knew her.
Much sympathy is expressed for the bereaved parents and family.

Again we are called upon this week to report the death of another of our promising young girls in the person of Miss Merle Wismer, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Wismer of this township. She had been attending high school in Gore Bay when taken ill on a Thursday about two weeks ago . Dr. Baker was called in and treated her up till the following Wednesday when it was discovered that she had appendicitis and it was thought advisable to take her to a hospital. She was removed that night to the hospital in Owen Sound . The operation was performed on Friday and we understand it was successful but she suddenly took a change for the worse and passed peacefully away on Sunday. On account of the inconvenience of the boats they were unable to have her brought home until Thursday on the Midland. She was brought out to Gordon that afternoon and the funeral took place from her father's residence on Saturday afternoon. Deceased was a very intelligent child and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was stricken down in her youth , being only thirteen years old. She was the only daughter and the eldest of the family of four. She leaves to mourn her loss a mother, three younger brothers and a large circle of friends. The funeral services were conducted by Mr. Wm. Morden, of Evansville. The pallbearers were her relatives: Jos. Wismer, George Morris, George Beck, Jack Gibson , Harold Wismer, and Russell Morris. The show the esteem in which she was held by her school mates and young friends, a bow of white silk ribbon was placed upon her coffin by them. The grief stricken parents have the deepest sympathy of the people of this community. Within one week two homes in this township with just the road between have been deeply saddened.
